Where it all Started

In January 2014, a group of individuals went on a cigar expedition to the farms and factory of A.J. Fernandez in Esteli Nicaragua .  Most of the travelers did not know each other when they left Denton but many had formed a solid bond by the time the returned.  Out of this group four cigar enthusiasts started meeting at the local cigar lounge on Thursday evening.  The original four D.I.C.K.S. were Edwin and Carmen Lipscomb, Ryan Larkey and Don Boozer.  Soon they were meeting on Sunday at Don Boozer's home.  That was the nucleus of the group that would soon become The D.I.C.K.S.  

Our Circle Grew

As the group discovered the joys of fellowship over hand rolled cigars and Kentucky bourbon, we welcomed in more cigar loving individuals.  

In 2015, we inducted Lane Boozer.  

2017 brought Dunashay Thomas, Matt Robertson, Duane Maness and Jason Decker.  

During this period of time we started attending cigar events as a group and we bought our first D.I.C.K.S shirts. 

In 2018, we invited Eddie Huckaby, Eric Couch and Rick Cobb into our fold.  

2019 brought Sharon Merkleson and Richard Rice

In 2020 we were joined by Allan Watts and Dan Renois. 

2021 was a banner year for new members.  We welcomed Jason Niehaus, Tim Harsbarger, Chris McKinney, Graston Norris, David Lockhart, David Leonard, Paul Mignini and Dawn Morris.  We also welcomed honorary members, G. Patel, Tony Gomez, Todd Vance, Joe Bob Grisham and Carla Vanderhoff.

The D.I.C.K.S. Trips Continued

We went back to Nicaragua in 2015, then to Cuba in 2017 and a cruise back to Cuba in 2018. A smaller group went on a cigar smoking cruise to the Mediterranean in 2019.  Costa Rica came next in 2020 and we flew out of Costa Rica on the last plane before the country shut down for the COVID scare.  While we were in Costa Rica, we blended and ordered our first batch of D.I.C.K.S. cigars.
